Yuderkys Espinosa Miñoso: Poetry in the Antiracist and Anticolonial Struggle

Yuderkys Espinosa Miñoso is an Afro-Caribbean antiracist, decolonial and feminist thinker born in the Dominican Republic. She is a founding member of the Latin American group GLEFAS (Group of Studies, Formation and Feminist Action), wherefrom she geopolitically locates her writing and thinking. She is currently working on a critique of feminism in Latin America and its Eurocentric and colonial past. In this lecture, Miñoso examines poetic movements as part of the anti-racist and anti/decolonial struggle in Abya Yala (Latin America). Starting from several authors* from different ethnic groups on the continent and its islands, she observes the most important concerns, themes and the world they reconstruct through their poetic voices.

Having been a migrant for the past 18 years, Yuderkys Espinosa Miñoso travels continents to broaden her horizons and ideas through other worlds, to articulate struggles and open dialogues. As a freelance teacher and researcher at the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo and the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, she is a frequent guest at universities, organizations and social movements in Latin America, the USA and Europe. She has published, among other things: Hacia la construcción de la historia de un (des)encuentro: la razón feminista y la agencia antiracista y decolonial en abya yala (2017); De qué es necesario un feminismo descolonial: diferenciación, dominación coconstitutiva de la modernidad occidental y el fin de la polidental: una critica a la idea del progreso en las narrativas de liberacion sexo-genericas y queer identitarias en Abya Yala (2015); Tejiendo de Otro Modo: feminismo, epistemología y apuestas descoloniales en Abya Yala (2014).

The lecture takes place within the framework of Wissen über Brücken – Conocimiento sobre puentes. Relating to Gloria E. Anzaldùa in Words, Vision and Context. A translation project with a series of events by Verena Melgarejo Weinandt and District * Schule ohne Zentrum takes place in cooperation with the Sonntagsbureau in the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek Berlin and the Verlag Zaglossus.

Yuderkys Espinosa Miñoso es una pensadora feminista antirracista y descolonial afrocaribeña, nacida en la Rep. Dominicana. Es miembra fundadora del Grupo Latinoamericano de Estudios, Formación y Acción Feminista (GLEFAS) desde donde apuesta a una escritura y un pensamiento situado geopolíticamente. En la actualidad avanza en la producción de una crítica al feminismo en América Latina por su compromiso con el eurocentrismo y la colonialidad. En esta conferencia la autora incursiona en el movimiento poético como parte de la lucha antirracista y anti/descolonial en Abya Yala. A partir de varias autoras y autores de diferentes pueblos del continente y sus islas observa los temas de preocupación principales y el mundo que recrean a través de ésta voz poética.
